I. POLICY

All information related to research, including industry protocols, data, institutional proprietary information, industry trade secrets, patient/subject private information and patient medical records, is confidential and may not be disclosed without prior written approval/consent form the appropriate source, unless required by law.

II. PURPOSE

To protect privacy rights and sensitive information from unauthorized and improper disclosure.

III. PROCEDURES

1. All Health Science Center personnel involved in research for private sponsors should sign a confidentiality statement. This should be maintained in the employee’s departmental personnel file.
2. All investigators involved in research for private sponsors should sign a confidentiality statement. This statement should be maintained in the protocol file
3. All IRB members should sign a confidentiality statement. The statements are maintained in the IRB Office.
